The Palomar StarLux Photo-facial enables quick and easy treatment of the following problems:
- · Pigmented Lesions (sun or age spots) occur in response to sun induced injury and appear as light or dark brown flat spots. Extensive sun exposure can also cause a diffuse browning of the skin. After each treatment the lesions initially become darker, crust up and then exfoliate naturally in about 2 weeks. Some people notice a significant improvement in their condition after 1-2 treatments, but most will require a series of approximately 4-6 treatments at monthly intervals depending on the severity of the condition.
- · Vascular Lesions are red or purple veins just under the skin surface. These can appear as spider veins (tiny vessels like a spider's web) or as rosacea (facial inflammation). How does it work?
The Palomar StarLux System emits pulses of light into the skin. This light is absorbed by the pigment in the sunspots and the blood in visible vessels, and converted to heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels.
