Your skin – the unique ‘barometer’ that reveals all about you
Your skin is a unique, remarkable – and highly visible – indicator of your health and wellbeing.
It reveals to everyone around you whether you are hot or cold, tired or rested, calm or stressed, sick or healthy. As you age, your skin reacts and responds to the changes in your daily environment, particularly exposure to the sun. On the inside, you may still feel as good as ever! But the toll of the years could mean your skin is sending out a completely different message to everyone in contact with you. .
Changes in the deeper layers of the skin and the muscles of your face alter the tone and contour of your facial skin, while the likelihood of medical conditions, ranging from dryness to skin cancer, increases. .
To some extent, your genes will determine how well your skin will stand the test of time. But environmental factors similarly play a big role. Each year in Australia, physicians diagnose more than one million cases of two highly curable forms of skin cancer – basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Sadly, for some people the diagnosis will be the next step up - melanoma, a potentially deadly form of skin cancer. Over the past three decades, melanoma cases have increased by about 3% per year. .
That’s why it’s so important to avoid the sun’s ultraviolet rays and care for your health ‘barometer’ – your skin. .
And now, the good news …
On the positive side, there has been significant progress in treating ageing, sun damaged skin, skin disorders such as acne and even skin cancer. As well, effective techniques of rejuvenating the skin including IPL and Fractional Laser are rapidly evolving. But you must choose your treatments with care. Check the reputation and credentials of your skin therapist and select your skin care products wisely. Our aim is always an excellent result - achieved with maximal comfort and minimal downtime. .
